Fresh Pops

Brooklyn | Bed-Stuy

Opening: Fall 2026, exact date still T.B.A.

Fresh Pops is an upcoming neighborhood bar on DeKalb Avenue that puts music at the center of its identity. The team is planning a welcoming place for drinks, food, and time with neighbors, with particular attention to how music sounds in the room. Rather than presenting itself as a conventional concert venue, Fresh Pops aims to combine the comfort of a local bar with a space designed for listening.

Alongside the front bar, a flexible back room is planned for live performances, private dinners, community gatherings, and other events. The food and drinks program is still being developed, and the venue hasn't announced a confirmed opening date. Its website previously targeted late October 2026, but described that timing as tentative, so keep an eye on its updates before making plans to visit.

Peral

Brooklyn | Bed-Stuy

Opened: September 2, 2026

Peral brings a taste of Mexico City to the eastern edge of Bed-Stuy. Opened in September 2026, the all-day café, taqueria, and bar is a collaboration between the team behind neighboring restaurant Olmo and the people behind Cicatriz, a popular café and bar in Mexico City. Designed as a bright, lively neighborhood gathering place, the space features arched passages, a skylight, greenery, and a takeout window.

Tacos are the main attraction, with an emphasis on guisados—rich, slow-cooked fillings—and plenty of vegetarian options. The team makes its corn tortillas using masa from Sobre Masa, pairing them with ingredients ranging from braised greens and chile relleno to goat birria. The drinks are equally thoughtful: expect micheladas, frozen cocktails, and Mexican-inspired creations alongside coffee and café offerings earlier in the day. It's a place that can work for a morning stop, a casual meal, or cocktails with dinner.

Only Child

Brooklyn | Bed-Stuy

Opened: June 26, 2026

Only Child is a moody neighborhood cocktail lounge from the team behind Frog, Bed-Stuy's popular wine bar. Opened in June 2026 at the corner of Jefferson and Lewis avenues, the space trades a busy bar-room feel for something more intimate, with low lighting, living-room-style seating, and large black-and-white portraits of only children decorating the walls.

The drinks program leans into well-made classic cocktails, especially martinis, alongside natural wines and house specialties. Food is casual and a little playful, with snacks such as clam dip, popcorn, and Basque-inspired nachos to share over another round. It's a good option for a date or an unhurried catch-up with friends—more of a settle-in-and-stay-awhile lounge than a high-energy nightlife destination.
